why we pay taxes

Everyone pays taxes. Some people cant afford to but they find a way. We mostly pay income and sales taxes. But the question every one is asking is why do we pay these taxes? We pay these taxes because The federal government uses your tax dollars to support Social Security, health care, national defense and social services such as food stamps and housing. The city you live in provides you with many things such as water, garbage services, police and fire protection. All of these occupations are very important to the citizens, but cant we just pay them one by one not from taxes? The sad thing is that not every one can afford to pay it individually. Our tax system is based on our "ability to pay." The more money we earn, the more taxes we pay. And the opposite is also true. If we earn a small income, we pay less taxes.
